Location
The Inuit tribes were located in the Northwest Territories, Yukon Territories, and Northern Manitoba.
Government & Legal System
The Inuit people had no leader or chief. Instead, they lived in small groups with their families. Each group of families included five or six people. When the groups of families went hunting, they would go with six to ten other groups of families. In the Inuit culture, food sources, game, and fish were considered property of the community. It was expected that as a tribe member you share your food and wealth. Sharing was the basis of their culture. All of the tribe members depended on one another to survive the harsh, cold weather in Northern Canada.
